Yala, Siaya County – July 21, 2025 : Police in Yala, Siaya County, are investigating the sudden death of a Ugandan woman who collapsed shortly after experiencing severe stomach pain. The unidentified woman died on the spot just minutes after eating dinner on Sunday evening.

Food Samples Collected for Testing

According to preliminary reports, the woman had just finished supper when she began complaining of sharp abdominal pain. Moments later, she collapsed and died before she could receive medical attention.

Police have collected food samples for toxicological analysis to determine whether food poisoning or contamination played a role in the fatal incident.

“Samples of the food she consumed are undergoing lab tests. We are treating this as a public health concern until we can confirm the cause of death,” said a source close to the investigation.

Police Launch Investigation

Authorities have opened a formal inquiry into the death to establish whether foul play was involved. While no suspects have been named, investigators are awaiting the outcome of the lab results before taking further action.

The sudden death has left Yala residents in shock, with many calling on health authorities to monitor food safety standards in the area more closely.

“It’s scary. We don’t know what caused it, but we need answers quickly,” said a local shopkeeper.

Community members are urging the police and public health officials to provide updates and take preventative action to ensure no similar cases occur.
