President William Ruto has appointed former Labour Cabinet Secretary (CS) Florence Chepngetich Bore as Kenya’s new ambassador to Namibia.
The appointment is part of a fresh wave of Foreign Service deployments aimed at strengthening Kenya’s diplomatic relations.
Florence Bore’s New Role
Florence Bore will now serve as Kenya’s top envoy in Windhoek, Namibia, where she is expected to spearhead bilateral cooperation between the two nations. Namibia remains a key partner for Kenya in trade, education, and regional peace efforts, as highlighted in African Union diplomatic frameworks.
Background: Bore’s Dismissal in 2024
Bore was among the 21 Cabinet Secretaries dismissed in July 2024 following the aftermath of the Gen Z protests that rocked the country in June. The protests, which led to multiple deaths and widespread unrest, forced a major government reshuffle by President Ruto.
Strengthening Kenya–Namibia Ties
Kenya and Namibia enjoy long-standing relations, particularly in areas of education exchange programs, agriculture, and regional security. Analysts suggest Bore’s appointment could revitalize Kenya’s diplomatic presence in Southern Africa.
