Kakamega, Kenya – Monday, August 18, 2025 – Police in Kakamega have arrested five suspects who were found in possession of over 1,400 rolls of bhang and suspected stolen property following a targeted crackdown.
Five Suspects Nabbed in Kakamega Crackdown
According to a statement released by the National Police Service (NPS), the suspects were arrested on August 16, 2025, in Kakamega Town after a tip-off from members of the public.
During the operation, police recovered:
- 1,412 rolls of bhang
- Uncustomed goods, including 16 packets of Oris cigarettes, 25 packets of Milano cigarettes, and one Supermatch packet
- Suspected stolen items, among them three 6kg gas cylinders and assorted household goods
The suspects are set to be arraigned in court today, Monday, August 18, 2025.
Police Call for Public Cooperation
Police have urged members of the public to continue sharing information that could help curb the rising cases of drug trafficking and theft in the region.
The crackdown is part of an ongoing nationwide campaign to dismantle drug networks and criminal gangs. Authorities have assured residents of enhanced security measures in Kakamega and beyond.
