Wajir County, Kenya – Monday, August 18, 2025 – A two-year-old boy tragically lost his life in Biyamathow village, Habaswain, after being fatally hit by a reversing vehicle outside a homestead.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, August 17, 2025, when the minor was playing with other children near the compound. The driver of a Toyota Succeed, who had earlier parked at the homestead, entered the vehicle unaware of the children outside and began reversing.

It was at this moment that the car struck the boy, fatally injuring him.

Police said the child was rushed to Biyamathow Health Centre, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The vehicle has since been detained for inspection as part of ongoing investigations into the tragic incident.

Authorities have urged drivers to exercise extreme caution when reversing, especially in residential areas where children are likely to be playing.
