Nairobi, Kenya – August 5, 2025
Kenyan content creator Koku Lwanga has responded to her estranged partner Daddie Marto’s recent public statement, describing his version of events as “misleading” and missing crucial truths. The two were once seen as one of Kenya’s most admired creative couples, but their relationship has recently unravelled in full public view.
They Were on a Break – Then He Vanished
Koku claims that in late 2024, she and Marto mutually agreed to take a three-month break to evaluate their relationship and discuss the way forward. However, instead of honoring the arrangement, Marto allegedly moved out without notice, taking their children’s documents with him.
“I came home and found him gone,” Koku told Sauce.co.ke. “He took the kids’ birth certificates and other documents. I’ve been asking for them ever since.”
She further alleges that Marto made several unannounced returns to collect household items, including their main TV set, without providing clear communication. When questioned, he allegedly told her, “Because I wanted to.”
Money Matters: Koku Says Her Family Supported Him
Contrary to Marto’s insinuation that he was financially strained due to her, Koku insists she never burdened him. In fact, she alleges that her family supported Marto generously:
- Her mother reportedly gave him over KSh 2.9 million
- Her father also offered financial support
- Koku herself says she gave most of her internship salary to help repay his loan
- She even started a chapati business to make ends meet
These claims paint a different financial picture from the one Marto suggested in his statement.
Co-Parenting Rules Broken
One of Koku’s most emotional accusations involves their children. She says they had a mutual agreement to keep the children’s environment neutral and free from third-party interference. However, she claims Marto broke that trust by introducing another woman into their kids’ lives prematurely.
“It was deeply hurtful,” Koku said. “That space was supposed to be sacred and safe for the children.”
The Alleged Confrontation
In response to Marto’s reference to an alleged night incident, Koku strongly denies acting violently or forcefully entering his residence.
“I never entered his house or acted violently that night,” she clarified. “I just wanted clarity, not chaos.”
