Nairobi, Kenya- Kenyan rapper Toxic Lyrikali has publicly responded to fellow artist Tipsy Gee, accusing him of fabricating a story about a failed music collaboration.
In an Instagram post, Toxic Lyrikali dismissed Tipsy Gee’s claims that he refused to work with him, labelling the statement as a “clout-chasing stunt” designed to portray him as rude and snobby.
“This is pure fabrication meant to tarnish my name and create unnecessary drama in the industry,” Toxic Lyrikali said in his post.
The Origin of the Feud
The tension began when Tipsy Gee, during a recent interview, alleged that Toxic Lyrikali ignored his request for a collaboration. However, according to Lyrikali, no such request was ever officially made, and the claims were simply a publicity tactic.
Kenya’s music scene has witnessed similar spats in the past, with artists sometimes engaging in public feuds to boost attention. Industry experts note that while such controversies can create short-term buzz, they can also damage reputations in the long run.
Public Reactions and Industry Response
Fans have taken sides online, with some defending Lyrikali and others questioning whether this might just be another staged rap industry drama.
Toxic Lyrikali’s Final Word
Toxic Lyrikali urged fans to focus on music rather than social media drama. He also hinted at new music coming soon, promising authentic Kenyan rap for his supporters.
