Media personality Adelle Onyango has revealed intimate details about why her marriage to Falgun Bhojak collapsed, saying it ended after she refused to have children, take his surname, or wear her wedding ring.
Why Adelle’s Marriage Ended
In a candid story shared on The Moth Podcast, Adelle said her husband wanted a “traditional wife,” something she could not be.
“By our third Christmas, it wasn’t just our apartment that didn’t feel like home, but also my marriage,” she recalled.
She added:
“One night during an argument, he told me, ‘You’ve refused to give me the three things that make a marriage. You don’t want to give me a child, you wouldn’t take my surname, and you’ve stopped wearing your ring.’ I remember thinking, ‘Yeah, he is right. I’m definitely not that traditional woman.’”
Choosing Self Over Tradition
Adelle, who has often spoken about feminism and women’s independence, said her decision was about staying true to herself rather than conforming to societal or marital expectations.
