Police are investigating a tragic incident in Kamukunji after a 25-year-old man died following a violent altercation at a lodging along Duruma Road.

The deceased, identified as Barnabas Oketch, had reportedly gone to meet his girlfriend at the hotel on Saturday morning. Upon arrival, he found her in the company of another man, sparking a confrontation.

Fatal Altercation

During the fight, Oketch was struck on the head. Security guards rushed to the scene and moved him to the reception waiting area, but the assailant managed to escape in the chaos.

Hours later, Oketch was discovered dead in the same reception room. Police confirmed he had sustained head swelling, consistent with blunt force trauma.

Arrest and Investigation

The woman at the centre of the altercation was arrested to assist with investigations. Oketch’s body has since been transferred to the city mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

According to police, many recent murder cases in Nairobi have been linked to money disputes, land wrangles, and love triangles.
