The body of a construction worker who went missing for a week has been discovered at the Talanta Sports Stadium.

Worker Missing for a Week

The deceased, 35-year-old Sammy Kyengo, had been reported missing on September 6 by his wife, Christine. His remains were found on Saturday morning inside a water sump located behind the stadium terraces, which are still under construction.

A colleague preparing the site for plastering stumbled upon the body around 9 AM, prompting an immediate police response.

Visible Injuries Raise Questions

Detectives from the Nairobi Area Crime Scene Unit noted visible injuries on the back of Kyengo’s head and neck, with blood oozing from his nose and mouth. His mobile phone, which went off the day he disappeared, has not been recovered.

The body was later moved to the Nairobi Funeral Home, where a post-mortem examination will determine the exact cause of death.

Family Speaks Out

Speaking to journalists, Kyengo’s wife said her husband had been struggling with delayed wages.

“He told me he had not been paid since July and wanted to demand his dues before leaving the job,” Christine said.

Fear Among Workers

The discovery has unsettled other workers at the site, with many expressing fears about their own safety as investigations continue.

Authorities have not yet classified the case as either an accident or foul play.
