BEIJING / WASHINGTON – September 3, 2025 — US President Donald Trump has accused Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un of plotting against the United States during Beijing’s massive Victory Day military parade. The event marked 80 years since Japan’s surrender in World War II.
Trump’s Truth Social Post
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:
“Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un as you conspire against the United States of America.”
He added that many Americans died while helping China secure freedom during the war. Trump urged that their “bravery and sacrifice” be honored. His remarks came as Beijing showcased its growing military strength before world leaders.
A Parade With a Message
The spectacle in Tiananmen Square featured drones, stealth fighters, and hypersonic missiles. Xi stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Putin and Kim, sending a powerful message about their unity.
Xi declared that the world faces a choice between “peace or war.” According to analysts, the absence of Western leaders highlighted Beijing’s desire to form an alternative global bloc.
Geopolitical Implications
The parade was more than a show of force. It reflected Beijing’s intent to challenge Washington’s dominance. Some experts argue it signals an authoritarian coalition taking shape. Observers also note that Russia’s partnership with China has deepened since the Ukraine war, while North Korea’s participation raises new concerns.
According to the Financial Times, Xi’s alignment with Putin and Kim underscores a long-term strategy to resist Western influence.
Trump Shifts Tone
Despite his sharp words, Trump later downplayed the threat. Speaking to the BBC, he said: “China needs us much more than we need them.” He insisted America’s military remains the most powerful in the world.
In another interview, Trump said he was “very disappointed” with Putin after their failed attempt to negotiate peace in Alaska. He added that the US would “do something to help people live” in Ukraine, though he offered no specifics.
Ukraine and Global Fallout
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of a new Russian troop build-up along the frontline. Western governments continue to accuse Beijing of aiding Russia through the purchase of oil and supply of dual-use materials. China has repeatedly denied those claims.
