Tragedy struck in Chemosoren village, Bomet County, after a two-year-old boy was electrocuted to death inside a neighbour’s house.
Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga confirmed the incident, saying the child had accompanied his mother, who works as a househelp, to the residence.
How the Incident Happened
According to a police report, the toddler wandered into a bedroom while his mother, Mercy Chebet, was busy with household chores. Moments later, he inserted a pair of scissors into a power extension cable that was plugged into a wall socket.
The boy was discovered lying on the floor, still clutching the scissors in his right hand, which remained attached to the live socket.
Police Investigation
Police officers, assisted by Kenya Power technicians, visited the scene and processed evidence before moving the body to Kapkatet mortuary for preservation and postmortem.
Authorities have urged parents and caregivers to exercise extra caution in homes with children, especially around exposed electrical equipment.
