Police in Likoni, Mombasa County, are investigating a shocking case of domestic violence after a 21-year-old woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds following a fight with her husband.

The victim, Anne Kawira, was discovered lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts to her neck, chest, and stomach inside their home early Sunday morning.

According to police reports, Kawira’s husband was also found lying unconscious nearby, with severe injuries to the neck, and was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Neighbours Reported Overnight Quarrel

Neighbours told police that the couple had been quarrelling throughout the night before the confrontation turned violent.

“We heard shouting and loud noises but didn’t think it would escalate to this,” one resident told police.

Detectives said a kitchen knife believed to have been used in the attack was recovered from the scene as part of ongoing investigations.

Police Probe Domestic Violence Incident

Authorities suspect the incident was a case of domestic violence gone fatal, and forensic experts have been dispatched to gather evidence.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for an autopsy, while police continue to probe the circumstances leading to the tragic altercation.

Police urged couples to seek mediation and counseling in domestic disputes rather than resorting to violence.
