Hundreds of Arsenal Football Club supporters from across Kenya gathered this morning at Kang’o ka Jaramogi in Bondo to pay tribute to the late Raila Odinga, who passed away on October 15, 2025.
The emotional gathering took place at Opoda Farm, the Odinga family’s ancestral home, where mourners celebrated the life of the veteran politician and lifelong Arsenal fan.
A Lifelong Gunners Supporter
Raila Odinga’s passion for Arsenal FC was well known both locally and internationally. He often spoke fondly of the London club and followed its matches closely, referring to himself as a “true Gunner.”
At the memorial, fans dressed in Arsenal jerseys, waving flags and singing football chants to honour his memory. Some carried banners reading “Forever a Gunner, Forever Baba.”
Unity Through Football
Organizers said the tribute was a reflection of how deeply Raila’s influence extended beyond politics.
“Baba united Kenyans not just in politics but also through his love for football. We’re here to celebrate his spirit and legacy as a proud Arsenal fan,” said Kevin Omondi, one of the coordinators of the event.
The fans later joined other mourners at the memorial ceremony, which drew dignitaries, leaders, and supporters from across the country.
