Detectives in Nairobi have launched investigations into the mysterious death of a female student who was found lifeless inside a private hostel in Kasarani.
Police identified the deceased as Erika Kinyua, a student at one of the local institutions in the area. Her body was discovered on Friday afternoon, several hours after she is believed to have died.
Family Raised Alarm After Unanswered Calls
According to police reports, Erika’s relative grew concerned after repeated calls to her phone went unanswered. The relative then visited the hostel and sought help from the security guards, requesting to check on her well-being.
When they entered her room, they found her unresponsive. Police were immediately alerted, and the body was moved to the city mortuary pending an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Investigations Underway
Kasarani Sub-County Police Commander confirmed that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have taken over the case.
“The cause of death remains unclear for now, but a postmortem and forensic analysis will help us establish what happened,” said an officer familiar with the case.
Police have recorded statements from hostel staff and neighbors as part of ongoing investigations.
