Nairobi, Kenya – Sunday, October 5, 2025 — Popular Gengetone artist Shalkido is currently hospitalised in critical condition after being involved in a motorcycle accident along Thika Road early Sunday morning.
News of the accident was first shared by media personality Oga Obinna, who revealed that he was among the last people to see Shalkido before the tragic incident.
According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred at around 4:00 a.m., shortly after Shalkido made a cameo performance at an entertainment joint in Thika.
Obinna recounted the final moments before parting ways with the artist:
“When we were leaving, we lost him at some point. When we met at the merging road to Thika, he was on his bike. I fueled his bike, and we proceeded. This was around 4 a.m.,” Obinna narrated.
“We went until just past KU. He waved at us as he took an exit, and we proceeded with our journey.”
Hours later, Obinna said he received distressing news that Shalkido had been involved in an accident that left him with severe head injuries. The artist was rushed to a nearby health facility before being transferred to the Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, where he is currently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Reports indicate that blood was seen gushing from his ears at the time of rescue, signaling the seriousness of his injuries. His motorcycle has since been impounded at a local police station as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
Shalkido’s Recent Struggles
The tragic accident comes just months after Shalkido made a comeback to the limelight, revealing his financial struggles following a period of silence in the music industry.
In a heartfelt plea, the former Sailors Gang member requested help to acquire a motorbike to start a boda boda business and rebuild his life.
His story caught the attention of comedian Eric Omondi, who, through his Sisi kwa Sisi initiative, rallied fans and online supporters to raise funds for Shalkido’s motorbike — the same one now involved in the accident.
As fans await updates on his condition, messages of prayers and support continue to flood social media, with many hoping for a full recovery.
