Oyugis, Homa Bay County – October 3, 2025 – A man has died after being stung by a swarm of bees in Oyugis town, Homa Bay County.

According to locals, the man, who was reported to have a history of mental illness, allegedly provoked the bees before they attacked him. The insects swarmed and stung him repeatedly, leading to his death.

Police confirmed the incident and said the victim’s body was later taken to the local mortuary for postmortem examination and burial arrangements.

Community Shocked by Rare Death

The unusual death has left residents of Oyugis in shock, with many urging the community to be cautious around beehives and avoid provoking swarms. Bee attacks, though rare, can be fatal if a person is stung multiple times.
