Nairobi, Kenya – October 2, 2025 – Singer Bahati’s new music video “Seti” has attracted massive criticism on YouTube, pushing him into the ranks of Kenyan artists with the most disliked songs on the platform, alongside Vera Sidika and Willy Paul.
Bahati’s Seti, released on Wednesday, has so far drawn at least 24,000 dislikes, compared to only 16,000 likes – a rare negative trend on the video-sharing site.
Vera Sidika’s Popstar Drama
Reality TV star and socialite Vera Sidika also faced harsh backlash in October 2022 after releasing Popstar. The song came shortly after she controversially claimed to have undergone surgery to reverse her botched cosmetic procedure, which many fans dismissed as a publicity stunt.
The video has since gathered 28,000 dislikes against just 13,000 likes, cementing its place among Kenya’s most ridiculed music releases.
Willy Paul Still Holds the Record
Controversial singer Willy Paul holds the crown for the “most disliked” Kenyan song on YouTube. His viral track Lamba Nyonyo, released on July 30, 2019, has attracted more than 38,000 dislikes, dwarfing its 5,300 likes.
Online Backlash vs. Popularity
Despite the heavy criticism, all three artists continue to enjoy significant fanbases and millions of views. Music analysts argue that negative publicity sometimes boosts visibility, keeping artists relevant in the ever-competitive Kenyan entertainment industry.
