Buruburu, Nairobi – Tuesday, October 3, 2025 – Tragedy struck in the Harambee area of Buruburu after a one-year-old girl drowned in a bucket full of water outside her family’s house.

According to police, the toddler had been left under the care of her grandmother and was playing outside the house when the accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

A relative later discovered the child submerged in the bucket and rushed to rescue her, but efforts to save her life were unsuccessful. The case has been reported to Buruburu Police Station, and the family is preparing burial arrangements.

Police, Locals Urge Vigilance

Authorities have urged parents and guardians to be extra vigilant when young children are near containers filled with water, noting that drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental deaths among toddlers in Kenya.
