Media personality and entertainer Oga Obinna has announced the immediate suspension of all personal, one-on-one assistance to individuals seeking help, citing persistent online defamation and malicious attacks.
In a statement released by Obinna TV Studios on Thursday, the comedian explained that his decision was driven by “persistent defamation by online bloggers and social media users who have weaponised acts of kindness for views, likes, and engagement.”
According to the statement, Obinna’s genuine efforts to support those in need have been met with fabricated stories, malicious trolling, and ingratitude that distort his intentions and damage his reputation.
Obinna Shifts to Structured Charity Work
The move marks a major shift in how Obinna will manage his charitable initiatives moving forward.
While Obinna TV Studios’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes and the Obinna TV Foundation will continue to operate normally, all personal interventions outside these official structures have been suspended indefinitely.
The statement stressed that “Obinna is not God, capable of helping everyone or obligated to respond to every request for assistance.”
“Oga Obinna will no longer yield to blackmail, manipulation, or public pressure to give and is not responsible for individual life circumstances beyond his voluntary help,” the statement added.
“I’m Just an Instrument, Not the Source”
Obinna further called on the public to understand that whatever is meant to happen in someone’s life will manifest with or without his intervention.
He emphasized that he is simply “an instrument, not the source of anyone’s breakthrough or success.”
The entertainer’s decision has sparked discussions online, with many fans supporting his stance on setting boundaries, while others lament the negative culture that has led celebrities to withdraw from personal acts of kindness.
