Popular radio personality Nancy Omweri has threatened to take legal action against controversial blogger Edgar Obare, accusing him of publishing false and malicious claims linking her romantically to a former Cabinet Secretary.
In a demand letter dated October 13, Omweri, through her lawyer Danstan Omari, alleges that Obare used his Instagram page (BNN Basic) and Telegram channel to spread defamatory content and encourage his followers to post false allegations about her private life.
Defamation Claims Against Obare
According to the letter, a post shared by Obare on October 6, 2025, implied that Omweri had a child with the unnamed former Cabinet Secretary. The publication, which included her photograph, reportedly attracted hundreds of comments and shares, severely damaging her reputation.
Omweri claims the allegations caused her mental distress, psychological anguish, and tarnished her image among colleagues, friends, and family.
Her lawyer, Omari, stated that the posts depicted Omweri as “a woman of loose morals” and “devoid of integrity.”
Demands for Compensation and Apology
Omweri is now demanding that Obare:
- Pays KSh10 million in general damages.
- Issues a public apology through his social media platforms.
- Retracts all defamatory posts within seven days, failure to which she will file a lawsuit.
Neither Obare nor his representatives have responded publicly to the demand letter as of Tuesday evening.
