Tragedy struck a family in Watamu, Kilifi County, after a two-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool at a local apartment complex.

The heartbreaking incident occurred at the Tembo Village swimming pool, where several children were playing.

According to police reports, the child is believed to have slipped and fallen into the pool unnoticed. He was later pulled out and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Authorities have since moved the body to the Malindi Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.

Police have urged parents and caregivers to exercise heightened supervision of young children near water bodies to prevent similar tragedies.
