Nairobi, Kenya – October 5, 2025 – The Wiper Democratic Movement has hit back at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) following accusations that party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was spreading rumours about Raila Odinga’s health.

This comes after ODM accused senior opposition figures, including Kalonzo, of fueling speculation about Raila’s condition, prompting a fiery response from Wiper’s leadership.

Wiper: ODM Statement ‘Desperate and Misleading’

In a strongly worded statement, Wiper dismissed the claims as “malicious and desperate,” saying Kalonzo harbours no ill will toward his long-time political ally.

“ODM’s hollow moralizing and blame games cannot mask their betrayal of the Kenyan people,” the party said in a statement.

Wiper accused ODM of attempting to divert attention from internal divisions and the fallout from its cooperation with the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“Their alliance with President Ruto’s regime, the same administration responsible for bloodshed, economic ruin, and repression, exposes them as co-authors of the nation’s suffering,” the statement continued.

“ODM’s latest statement is not about Raila’s health. It is about their guilt, their fear, and their desperate attempt to justify a political marriage stinking of despotism.”

Wiper Defends Kalonzo, Blames Government for AU Loss

The party also rejected claims that Kalonzo Musyoka played a role in Raila Odinga’s failed bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson seat, arguing that the loss was due to “diplomatic blunders” by the Kenyan government.

“Odinga’s AU loss reflected the same political miscalculations the current regime continues to make,” Wiper said, adding that it would not allow Kalonzo to be dragged into ODM’s “self-inflicted political decay.”

ODM: Raila Odinga is in Good Health

Amid widespread speculation, ODM maintained that Raila Odinga is in good health, confirming he had flown out of the country for private engagements.

The party urged the public to ignore false reports about Raila’s condition, reaffirming that his health was not a cause for concern.
