Police in Bomet County have arrested a 32-year-old woman following the fatal stabbing of her husband during a domestic dispute at a local bar on Monday morning.
According to authorities, the incident occurred at around 10:40 a.m. when an argument between the couple escalated into violence at a drinking joint in Kaplele village, Chepalungu Sub-county, approximately one kilometre from Kapkuen Police Station.
The victim, 36-year-old Bernard Kipkoech, died after being stabbed in the neck by his wife, Sharon Cherotich, during the altercation.
Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga confirmed the incident, noting that the couple had been drinking when a heated disagreement turned tragic.
“A couple that was taking drinks within a certain bar went after each other, causing the husband, one Bernard Kipkoech aged 36 years, to be pierced by one Sharon Cherotich, 32 years, who is the wife,” Imbwaga said.
Investigators established that Cherotich allegedly smashed a beer bottle and used the sharp, broken glass to stab her husband in the neck, causing severe bleeding.
Kipkoech was rushed to Tennek Mission Hospital, but medical staff pronounced him dead on arrival.
The suspect was immediately arrested, and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) processed the scene as investigations continue.
