Controversial car dealer and entrepreneur Khalif Kairo has responded to growing speculation over his age after social media users questioned his recent claim of turning 29 years old.
The debate erupted shortly after Kairo shared a post celebrating his 29th birthday, with many Kenyans expressing disbelief and suggesting that he looked older than his stated age.
While some netizens demanded proof, others came to his defense, noting that Kairo began his entrepreneurial journey at a young age — a factor that may contribute to the perception that he is older.
Kairo’s Response
In response to the online chatter, Kairo reaffirmed that he is indeed 29 years old, saying that public assumptions about his age stem from his long experience in the automotive industry.
“I am 35, you guys have won… Yeah, they wanna add years to your age because it comforts them and in their small minds it ‘normalizes’ your success when they convince themselves you’re older,” he wrote sarcastically in a follow-up post.
Kairo further dismissed the obsession with age comparisons, saying that success comes at different times for different people.
“I see people insinuating I’m 34 or 35, and I honestly do understand… Age is just a number in the grand scheme of things, especially if you are a man. Some make it big at 19, others at 59. Just live your life, enjoy it while it lasts, and serve God. Ukianza kujicompare ni pressure,” he added.
