A holiday trip turned tragic after a reveler drowned in a swimming pool at the Travelers Beach Hotel in Mombasa during a late-night swim.
Police and hotel management confirmed that the victim, Benson Muthee Karimi, 43, had checked into the hotel on November 21 with his wife and two children for a five-day stay.
The family reportedly enjoyed their holiday uninterrupted until the night of November 24, when Karimi went to the swimming pool alone. Hotel attendants later found him unresponsive in the water.
Efforts to resuscitate him proved unsuccessful.
Karimi’s body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy and further procedures.
Police have launched investigations into the incident, including questioning pool attendants as part of the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death.
