Detectives have launched investigations into the death of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered floating on River Tana in the Golbanti area of Tana River County.
According to police reports, the woman’s body was found with a dog chain secured with a padlock around her left leg, raising suspicions of foul play. Officers said the body was retrieved from the river and moved to a local mortuary pending identification and a postmortem examination.
Preliminary findings suggest the victim may have been killed elsewhere before being dumped in the river, as her body bore visible injuries consistent with torture.
“The woman did not have any identification documents at the time,” police said, adding that efforts are underway to trace her identity and those responsible for her murder.
Authorities believe the assailants may have attempted to conceal the crime by disposing of the body in the river. The motive behind the killing remains unclear as investigations continue.
