Porro Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Patrick Leerte has died while undergoing treatment at the Samburu County Referral Hospital.

The death was confirmed by Samburu County Assembly Clerk Fred Lenapeer in an internal memo dated December 28, 2025. According to the memo, the MCA passed away on Sunday morning after a short illness.

Leerte, who was receiving medical care at the hospital before his death, was elected as Porro Ward MCA in 2022 under the Amani National Congress (ANC) party, which is part of the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

During his tenure, he served as the Samburu County Assembly Chairperson of the Committee on Lands and Physical Planning, a role in which he was involved in overseeing land use and development matters across the county.

Tributes are expected to pour in as colleagues and residents mourn the loss of the legislator.
