A security guard was fatally attacked during a violent early-morning robbery at a liquor store in Kahawa West, Nairobi, where criminals stole goods estimated at KSh 2.5 million.
The incident occurred at around 4 a.m., according to police investigations. The robbers reportedly broke into the premises, vandalised the store’s CCTV system, and proceeded to loot the shop before escaping.
Kasarani police officers have launched a probe into the robbery and the killing of the guard.
Store owner Nicholas Mwongera said he was notified by neighbours at 7 a.m. and rushed to report the incident at the Kahawa West Police Station.
Residents say insecurity in the area has been worsening. Many attribute the rise in night-time attacks to a three-week power outage after Kenya Power removed a transformer for repairs but has since failed to reinstall it, leaving the community in total blackout.
They are now calling on authorities to restore power urgently and increase patrols to prevent further crimes
