Police are investigating a mysterious death after a long-distance truck driver was found dead inside his cabin along the Kisumu–Kericho Highway in the Kapsoit area.
The deceased was identified as Kimanzi Mulonzya, a 44-year-old driver who had recently delivered a consignment of raw cooking oil to Uganda and was on his return journey to Nairobi.
According to police, the incident occurred on December 12, 2025, when Mulonzya parked his trailer near Medhill Health Centre at around 9:00 a.m. Witnesses told officers that the lorry remained stationary for hours without the driver exiting the cabin.
Concerned locals raised the alarm the following day after noticing that the vehicle had not moved and the driver had not been seen.
Officers who visited the scene found Mulonzya’s body slumped over the steering wheel and partially resting on the cabin bed. Preliminary observations revealed no visible signs of struggle.
Police recovered assorted medication believed to be used for ulcer management inside the cabin, along with a bucket containing sputum. Investigators say the driver was alone at the time of death.
The management of the transport company was notified as police moved the body to a mortuary pending an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing.
