Renowned social media personality Wanja Nyarari has taken legal action against popular TikToker Gathaiga Wa Chai after he made a series of damaging allegations during a heated TikTok Live session.
According to court documents, Gathaiga claimed that Wanja allegedly engaged in inappropriate behaviour with Tash, the husband of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo, inside the musician’s vehicle on the day she was laid to rest.
He further alleged that Wanja and a group involved in the burial arrangements misused funds contributed for the funeral, statements Wanja says were not only untrue but intended to maliciously destroy her reputation.
Wanja Calls the Claims “Defamatory and Malicious”
Wanja maintains the allegations are fabricated, defamatory, and meant to cast her in bad light before her online audience and business partners.
Her legal team argues that the statements have caused emotional distress, reputational harm, and social ridicule, prompting her to seek redress in court.
Gathaiga Wa Chai Yet to Respond
As the matter moves to court, Gathaiga is yet to formally respond to the suit. The case is expected to spark widespread debate, given the pair’s massive online following and the nature of the claims.
The legal battle now adds another dramatic chapter to Kenya’s ever-intense TikTok influencer wars, where personal feuds, live-stream confrontations, and character assassination attempts have become increasingly common.
