Police are investigating the kidnapping and killing of a 63-year-old man whose body was discovered dumped in Juja, Kiambu County, days after he was abducted in Gatanga, Murang’a County.

The deceased, identified as Bernard Kinuthia Karehu, was reportedly kidnapped by unknown individuals on Sunday morning, January 18. His body was later found lying by the roadside in the Abbasalama area of Juja.

According to police, Karehu had been shot at close range in the chest, just below the right upper arm. Officers who visited the scene noted that his T-shirt was soaked in blood, indicating he was murdered before his body was dumped at the location.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination to establish further details surrounding the killing.

As of Monday, no arrests had been made. Police said detectives are pursuing multiple leads and have revisited both the scene where the body was found and the location in Gatanga where Karehu was abducted.

Investigators have also questioned the victim’s relatives as part of efforts to determine whether he had any known disputes or conflicts that may have led to the kidnapping and subsequent murder.
