A police officer was found dead in his house in an apparent suicide in Kangondi village, Kitui County.
The officer, identified as Dennis Nzau Ndav, 40, was discovered on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at his residence within Kangondi police lines, police said.
According to preliminary reports, Ndav’s wife had unsuccessfully tried to reach him after he sent her a message indicating he was distressed. Concerned, she alerted his colleagues, who later went to his house and found his body.
Police confirmed the incident and said investigations have been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
Authorities urged members of the public and officers facing emotional or psychological distress to seek help and speak to trusted colleagues, family members, or professional counselors, noting that mental health support remains critical within the service.
