Police in Nyandarua County are investigating a suspected murder after a 32-year-old man was found dead in a pit latrine in the Mirangine area.

The deceased, identified as Simon Mutitu, is believed to have been killed before his body was dumped in the toilet on January 9, according to police.

Body Found After House Was Locked From Outside

Police said Mutitu’s brother became concerned after finding his house locked with a padlock from the outside. Upon searching the compound, he discovered Mutitu’s body in a pit latrine located a few metres from the house.

The body was found in a sitting position, half-naked, with his trousers pulled down, raising suspicion about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Signs of Assault Noted

Officers who visited the scene reported that the body had multiple bruises, indicating that Mutitu may have been assaulted and killed elsewhere before being transported and dumped in the latrine.

“The injuries suggest the victim was murdered and the body later disposed of in the toilet,” police said.

Investigations Ongoing

The motive behind the killing remains unknown, and detectives have launched investigations to identify those responsible.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination, which is expected to establish the exact cause of death.

Police have urged anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward.
