Police in Ruaka, Kiambu County, are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 32-year-old mechanic following a dispute with a colleague over a mobile phone.

The incident occurred on January 11, when the deceased, Peter Ngaru Njuguna, reportedly got into a heated argument with the suspect. Witnesses told police that the quarrel escalated, prompting the assailant to pull out a kitchen knife and stab Njuguna.

Njuguna sustained serious injuries to the neck and abdomen and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said the suspect dropped the knife at the scene and fled, sparking a manhunt. The weapon has since been recovered as investigations continue.

The body was transferred to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination, as detectives work to trace and arrest the suspect.
