A veteran Kenyan television journalist is at the centre of a growing online controversy following reports alleging his involvement in a hit-and-run incident in Westlands, Nairobi.

According to claims circulating on social media, the journalist was driving an expensive SUV when he allegedly knocked down a boda boda rider before fleeing the scene.

Unverified reports further allege that the journalist may have been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The matter has sparked public outrage after allegations emerged that police officers are attempting to cover up the incident, allegedly shielding the journalist from arrest or questioning.

A concerned Kenyan took to X (formerly Twitter) to demand justice for the injured rider, accusing law enforcement officers of protecting the journalist due to his status.

As of now, police have not issued an official statement confirming or denying the allegations, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
