Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has accused Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo of allegedly sponsoring violence at Kisumu International Airport.
Speaking on Sunday Live on Citizen TV, Owino claimed that more than 200 individuals were mobilised to attack him and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna at the airport and disrupt their travel plans to Kakamega.
Allegations of Armed Group
“We were supposed to go via Kisumu International Airport… yesterday, Raymond Omollo is the one who sponsored goons to access Kisumu International Airport, waiting for Babu Owino and Edwin Sifuna,” Owino said.
He alleged that the group was armed with crude weapons and had planned to ambush them.
Claim of Fatality
Owino further claimed that one person was killed during the chaos and linked the death to the alleged attackers. He stated that the family of a man identified as George Olwandi had addressed the media over the incident.
Text Message Claim and Arrest Allegations
The lawmaker said he personally reached out to Omollo via text message, accusing him of attempting to engineer clashes.
“I texted Raymond Omollo…,” Owino said, adding that he had warned the PS against what he described as “immature” tactics.
He also alleged that the incident followed the arrest of his brother-in-law, who he claimed was later dropped in Machakos after public pressure.
The allegations come amid heightened political tensions and have yet to receive an official response from the Interior Ministry at the time of publication.
