A 26-year-old man has died after falling from the first floor of an unfinished house in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

The deceased, identified as John Gwanene, reportedly slipped from a balcony while drinking alcohol with friends.

Fatal Fall from Unfinished Building

According to police and witnesses, Gwanene was taking alcohol with his friends on the balcony of the incomplete structure when he lost his footing and fell headfirst to the ground floor.

He was rushed to Ruiru Sub County Level 4 Hospital by one of his friends. However, he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Two Friends Arrested

Police officers later visited the scene and arrested two friends who were with the deceased at the time of the incident. The duo is being held pending interrogation as investigations continue to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal fall.

The body was moved to the mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the precise cause of death.

Authorities have urged members of the public to exercise caution, especially when accessing unfinished buildings and consuming alcohol in potentially unsafe environments.
