Mama Ida Odinga has come out in support of Edwin Sifuna following his controversial removal as Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). She affirmed that Sifuna remains the rightful SG and urged party members to resolve disagreements through dialogue rather than expulsions.
Speaking on the ongoing party dispute, Mama Ida likened ODM to a family home, emphasizing that members should not be pushed out during internal disagreements. She said, “Edwin Sifuna is the SG of the party. He is the son of Raila. He is not going anywhere. If your father has died then should the children be chased away from the house? If you have a disagreement in the house, people should sit down and resolve it.”
Her remarks come amid sharp divisions within ODM over its leadership and political direction. While some officials are pushing for reforms and a new strategy, Mama Ida and senior party leaders are calling for the protection of the party’s legacy and the inclusion of all members.
This development underscores the growing tensions within ODM, highlighting the need for unity and structured dialogue to maintain the party’s stability ahead of future political contests.
