Police have launched investigations into the murder of a 35-year-old man whose body was discovered by the roadside in Naivasha Town, Nakuru County.

The victim was identified as Joseph Ajon, a freelance journalist. His lifeless body was found on March 3, 2026, lying in an open field a few meters from the Naivasha–Mai Mahiu highway.

According to police, Ajon’s body had multiple injuries, including wounds to the ears, throat and thighs, indicating a violent attack. A pool of blood was also visible a few meters from where the body lay.

Authorities said he was still wearing a wristwatch and cap at the time of discovery.

His grey Volkswagen Tiguan was found abandoned a short distance from the scene. The vehicle has since been towed for forensic examination as part of ongoing investigations.

Police Probe Possible Murder Scene

Officers revealed they were alerted to the incident long after it had occurred. Preliminary findings suggest the victim may have been driven to the location and killed there.

A team of investigators revisited the scene and combed through the vehicle for possible clues that could help unravel the motive behind the killing.

The motive of the murder has not yet been established. The body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem examination as detectives continue with investigations.
