An aircraft operated by EBB Air skidded off the runway at Mandera Airstrip while operating the Mandera–Nairobi route.

Aircraft Leaves Runway

The Embraer plane, registration 5Y-EBB, veered off the runway and came to a stop in a nearby thicket with 36 people on board.

Swift Emergency Response

Emergency response teams stationed at the airstrip acted quickly, evacuating all passengers from the aircraft and securing the scene.

No Injuries Reported

Confirming the incident, Robinson Ndiwa said there were no injuries or fatalities reported among those on board.

Safety Measures Praised

The quick response by emergency teams and the safe evacuation of passengers have been credited with preventing what could have been a more serious incident.

Investigations Expected

Authorities are expected to launch investigations to determine the cause of the runway excursion, including possible mechanical issues or environmental factors.

Aviation Safety Focus

The incident highlights the importance of emergency preparedness at airstrips, especially in remote areas, as well as ongoing efforts to maintain safety standards within Kenya’s aviation sector.
