A 69-year-old man was brutally killed by a mob in a suspected case of vigilante justice in West Pokot County.

Mob Attack in Temow Village

The victim, identified as John Pkerket Toywalima, was attacked at his home in Temow Village, Sekker Ward after being accused of practicing witchcraft.

According to police reports, a group of about 20 men stormed his homestead, forcibly abducted him, and subjected him to a violent assault.

Brutal Killing

Authorities say the attackers beat him before hanging him with a rope, leading to his death.

The incident has shocked residents and raised fresh concerns over mob justice and superstition-related violence in rural areas.

Police Launch Investigations

Officers from Marich Police Station, alongside detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Pokot Central, have launched investigations into the killing.

Call for Justice

Police are pursuing the suspects involved in the attack and have urged members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

The incident adds to growing calls for awareness and stronger enforcement against mob justice, particularly in cases linked to allegations of witchcraft.
