Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has stirred public conversation after revealing his personal wishes regarding his burial arrangements.
Calls for Simple Burial
Speaking at his rural home in Ralingo village, Asembo within Rarieda Sub-County, Tuju told his kinsmen that he prefers a simple and dignified send-off.
He disclosed that he has already identified a specific spot within his homestead where he would like to be buried.
“I have shown you the spot where I want to be buried here at home,” he said.
Burial Within 48 Hours
Tuju further stated that, in the event of his death, he should be buried within 48 hours.
He emphasized that he does not want any delays or elaborate arrangements surrounding his funeral.
No State Involvement
In a notable directive, Tuju said he does not want state officers to be involved in his burial.
“If I die, I should be buried within 48 hours, and I do not want state officers interfering with my funeral,” he stated.
‘I Fear Humiliation, Not Death’
The former minister explained that his wishes are driven by a desire to avoid what he termed as unnecessary spectacle.
“I am not afraid of death, but I am afraid of humiliation. That is why I want my burial to be simple and dignified,” Tuju added.
Message to Community
His remarks formed part of a broader message to his community, highlighting his preference for humility and respect in death, rather than a high-profile state-managed funeral.
