A village in Nguluni Koma area, Matungulu Sub-county, has been plunged into mourning after a mother reportedly died by suicide after allegedly poisoning her three children.
The incident has left residents in shock, with authorities launching investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Children Hospitalised
Confirming the incident, Mukuru Mutune said the three children, aged 5, 7, and 11, are currently receiving treatment at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital.
According to reports, the children told their grandfather that their mother had given them a concoction to drink shortly before taking her own life.
Moments after recounting the incident, the children began to feel weak, prompting their immediate rush to hospital. The youngest child was admitted in critical condition but has since been stabilised.
Family Tragedy Deepens
The incident comes barely two months after the woman lost her husband, who reportedly also died by suicide.
Her body has been moved to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital mortuary as investigations continue.
Police Launch Probe
Police have initiated investigations to determine the motive behind the incident and to establish the sequence of events leading up to the tragedy.
