A political lobby group, Warembo na Ruto, has unveiled an ambitious plan to mobilise at least 3 million Generation Z voters in support of William Ruto ahead of the next General Election.
Youth Vote Strategy
Speaking during the launch of a nationwide campaign in Nairobi, the group’s National Chairperson Irene Wariara said they have already begun a countrywide tour targeting young voters.
She noted that the initiative will involve grassroots engagement through door-to-door outreach, campus visits, and online mobilisation.
Countering Opposition Narrative
Wariara accused unnamed opposition figures of misleading young people and using them to undermine the government.
She said the group’s mission is to counter what it describes as anti-government messaging and present what it views as the administration’s achievements.
Focus Areas for Engagement
According to the lobby, their messaging to Gen Z voters will highlight key government initiatives, including:
- Growth of the digital economy
- Affordable housing projects
- Job creation efforts
“Our message to Gen Z is clear: don’t be used to destroy your own future,” Wariara said.
Political Significance
The youth vote is expected to play a decisive role in upcoming elections, with Gen Z emerging as a powerful and increasingly vocal demographic in Kenya’s political landscape.
Growing Mobilisation Efforts
The move by Warembo na Ruto reflects intensifying efforts by political groups to win over young voters, particularly as digital platforms continue to shape political discourse and influence public opinion.
As campaigns ramp up, the battle for the youth vote is likely to remain a central theme in Kenya’s evolving political environment.
