Dan Gikonyo has revealed in court that President William Ruto personally contacted him to seek updates on the health condition of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during his admission at Karen Hospital in October 2024.
While testifying on Wednesday, Dr Gikonyo said Gachagua had been admitted for medical examinations after reportedly developing chest complications during Senate impeachment proceedings.
According to the cardiologist, President Ruto reached out while doctors were still conducting tests and assessments on Gachagua’s condition.
Dr Gikonyo told the court that he informed the president that the medical examinations were ongoing and promised to provide further updates once doctors completed the evaluation.
The medic also disclosed that he first sought Gachagua’s consent before sharing any medical information with President Ruto.
The testimony emerged as court proceedings continue regarding matters surrounding Gachagua’s impeachment and health status during the period in question.
