Connie Githinji, the 22-year-old university student whose death at an Airbnb in Kileleshwa is now being treated as a murder, had shared moments of an upscale outing in Nairobi just weeks before the tragic incident.
In a video posted about three weeks before her death, Connie is seen enjoying time with friends at JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi, where the group reportedly spent KSh95,400 on food and drinks.
The clip showed Connie playfully asking her friends to guess the total bill before eventually revealing the amount, prompting excitement and laughter among the group.
Friends and social media users have since revisited the video following news of her death, with many expressing shock and sadness over the tragedy.
According to reports, Connie, who hailed from a humble background in Murang’a County, often shared glimpses of an outgoing lifestyle and social experiences in Nairobi.
Investigators say that on the day she was killed, she travelled from Murang’a to Kileleshwa to meet Tony Odhiambo, who is currently the main suspect in the case.
Preliminary investigations indicate the two are believed to have met through a dating platform before arranging to meet physically.
An autopsy conducted on Connie’s body later revealed multiple injuries that investigators say are inconsistent with suicide, leading detectives to officially classify the case as a murder investigation.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
