Police in Nakuru County have launched investigations into the death of a 71-year-old man that was initially reported as a suicide at his home in Molo Subcounty.
According to police reports, officers responding to the incident found the lifeless body of Peter Muriithi Gitau hanging from a sisal rope inside a bedroom.
However, preliminary observations at the scene have raised questions about the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
Investigators noted that the deceased’s legs were firmly positioned on the bed, with no visible signs of struggle or body strain commonly associated with hanging incidents.
Police further stated that no external injuries were observed on the body, while no suicide note was recovered from the scene.
The unusual findings have prompted detectives to treat the matter cautiously as investigations continue to determine whether foul play may have been involved.
Authorities are expected to conduct a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
