Police in Kisumu County are investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman following a dispute over a market stall in Muhoroni.

The incident occurred at Shauriyako Estate, where the deceased had reportedly been putting up a makeshift stall.

According to police reports, an argument broke out between two women over the construction of the stall, which had allegedly been set up adjacent to a hotel business.

Police identified the suspect as Jane Adhiambo Okeyo, who reportedly operates a hotel within the estate.

The deceased, identified only as Silvia, is said to have disagreed with Jane over the location of the structure.

Investigators say the disagreement escalated into a heated exchange before the suspect allegedly armed herself with a knife and stabbed Silvia.

The victim was rushed to St. Vincent Hospital for treatment but later succumbed to her injuries.

Police confirmed that the suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and is currently being held at Muhoroni Police Post as investigations continue.
