Renowned businessman Khalif Kairo has finally addressed his decision to decline public financial assistance following the recent death of his mother.
Speaking during an interview on the 1st Podcast hosted by Tony Mwirigi, Kairo said his decision was influenced by his desire for privacy and caution regarding public fundraising.
According to the businessman, although many people genuinely offer help with good intentions, he believes not everyone who gets involved in public contributions acts sincerely.
Kairo specifically referenced the “Kaluma Boy” situation, saying the controversy surrounding previous public fundraising efforts contributed to his skepticism about accepting widespread financial support.
He explained that public aid can sometimes attract exploitation, unnecessary drama or online controversy, something he wanted to avoid while grieving his mother.
The businessman also disclosed that he prefers handling personal family matters privately and within a close circle of trusted friends rather than opening them up to public involvement.
Kairo’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising his decision to maintain privacy while others commended supporters who had offered assistance during the difficult period.
