Detectives in Kirinyaga County have arrested a man who had reportedly been on the run after allegedly fatally assaulting a fellow villager during a dispute earlier this year.

According to police, the incident occurred in Chema Village, located in Ruiru Location, where an altercation broke out between the suspect and the victim.

Investigators allege that Isaac Maina struck Moses Mwangi Maina on the back of the head using a sharp spade during the confrontation.

The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment. However, he later succumbed to his injuries on April 21.

Police said the suspect disappeared immediately after the incident and managed to evade arrest for several weeks as detectives pursued him.

Following investigations and intelligence-led operations, detectives eventually tracked him down and placed him under arrest.

He is expected to face murder-related charges as investigators continue to finalize the case file.

Authorities have urged members of the public to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes, warning that acts of violence can have devastating consequences for families and communities.

The case remains under investigation as police prepare to present the suspect before court.
